Best Free Outdoor Gyms and Fitness Circuits in Moscow Parks
Summer crowds fill equipped circuits across city green spaces that charge nothing for use.
How we reported this

Muscovites logged more than 40,000 visits last month to the free pull-up bars and rowing machines installed along the Moskva River in Gorky Park.
Interest has climbed this year as residents seek low-cost ways to stay active while city budgets hold entry fees at zero for all public fitness zones. The pattern matches a wider push by the Moscow Department of Physical Culture and Sports to expand equipment without new charges.
Circuits near central landmarks
One busy site sits on the embankment path inside Gorky Park at Krymsky Val 9, where eight stations form a loop that includes parallel bars, leg-press frames and dip stations. A second route runs through Sokolniki Park along the main central alley off Sokolnichesky Val Street, with twenty stations spaced every 200 metres that include battle ropes, tyre flips and balance beams. Both locations opened their current layouts in 2022 after upgrades funded through the city’s annual sports infrastructure line.
Equipment at these two parks receives weekly inspections by municipal crews, and usage data shows peak hours between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. on weekdays. No booking is required and all apparatus remains available to anyone with a valid Moscow resident card or foreign passport.
Usage numbers and next steps
City records released in June 2026 list 158 free outdoor circuits operating across Moscow parks, up from 112 in 2023. Annual visits reached 520,000 last year, with the largest share recorded at the two central sites named above. No entry fee applies at any of them.
Visitors can download the city’s Sport Moscow app for station maps and suggested circuits before heading out. Early morning or late evening slots avoid the midday heat that often exceeds 28 degrees in July. Those new to the equipment are advised to start with body-weight movements at the nearest station and consult a local trainer on site if guidance is needed.
